Emotional Regulation Excellence

Leading is a big responsibility and a beautiful challenge.

As leaders we are bombarded with advice from experts on how to create effective teams. We are told we must be great at decision-making, having difficult conversations, consulting with our teams, managing people’s workloads, differences and mental health.

We must become expert in managing change, risk and team dynamics whilst also being careful to remain within appropriate HR boundaries and remaining calm under pressure.

We are told to delegate and empower, to know how to motivate our teams to be more productive, to communicate effectively in ways that all team members understand and that we must adapt quickly in an ever-changing world.

And we’re expected to do this whilst also maintaining a healthy work-life balance and supporting our families.

It can be overwhelming.

The truth is, underlying all of the processes, systems, theories and designs is something very simple.

When we look below the surface of every change, team dynamic, disgruntled employee or innovation development, there lies one element that will ensure success.

Mastering emotional regulation.

How we turn up as leaders matters and how our team members turn up matters.

The message we give to others isn’t just about the words we use. It’s about what we don’t say – our non and para-verbal communication is   affected by our energy levels and emotional state.

Through understanding and processing emotions efficiently, we can apply our cognitive functions far more effectively and be ready for learning, communicating, adapting and decision-making.

So, rather than looking out for the answers, as great leaders we must first focus on ourselves and then teach the team to understand each other.

The toughest challenge we face is knowing ourselves and being prepared to be courageous enough to make those real changes.

For leaders that are really committed to real change of team effectiveness and culture, at CHMLN we’re able to help you understand yourself and others and learn how to make these changes to support yourself, your team, your family and your company
